Starting the battle arena and monster projects.

Reading this term's briefs made me extremely happy, Character design being the thing that I want to pursue in the future and what I enjoy doing most. For these particular projects, the most important thing is being consistent. The character needs to match the environment and look like it belongs to it. In order to achieve that it is necessary to have a strong theme, storyline, and plot going on, so the concept stage is very important to me.

Knowing what I had to do, I started thinking about the direction in which I want to take this. For whatever reason, the first thing that popped into my head was the unreleased game Tomb Raider "Ascension", which was canceled and later turned into what we know today as the reboot Tomb Raider 2013. What stood up, particularly to me, was the supernatural aspect of the game. It was supposed to be a very gorry horror game, with very scary creatures, so that resonated instantly with the requirements of this brief.

Making a mood board is important, so I started looking for unreleased concept art from the game, and happily, I was able to find quite a few.

Since the game was very diverse regarding the types of creatures that it was supposed to have, that gave me lots of options that I could approach regarding my creature.
The way that I want to approach these 2 projects is firstly getting the main idea, figuring the character out since that is mainly my area of focus, and then building the environment around it.
With this in mind, I also started looking into environment options, keeping an open mind, but also trying to match my initial idea.

With everything in mind, I also decided to make a quick sketch, just to help me visualize my ideas, and also have a rough guide to the direction in which I want to take this.
I did not put much thought into it, I just let it flow, ending up with a very deformed human with long legs that is able to jump very high.
